Memphremagog School/Work Balance Program
In recent years, a number of studies have shown that the school dropout problem is a major concern for Quebec society
The Estrie region is no exception: in 2008-2009, 18% of girls and 30.2% of boys who left high school did so before obtaining a diploma or qualifications.
The goal of the Memphremagog School/Work Balance Program is to address one of the factors leading students to drop out of school: the difficulty young people have establishing and maintaining a balance between their studies and their work.
In carrying out its mission, the Program seeks to raise awareness of the importance of an effective school/work balance among students, employers, parents, youth organizations, the general public, and stakeholders in the educational milieu. More specifically, this involves a commitment from all such stakeholders – employers in particular – to promote the educational success of our up-and-coming generations and thus ensure a qualified labour force in sufficient numbers for the future.
